Lynda Nyangweso turns into a songstress

Radio presenter Lynda Nyangweso has climbed a few notches higher in her popularity ratings for the last one month and it has everything to do with her voice. Ms. Nyangweso has released a new music video ‘You need Jesus’ marking her debut in the music industry.

Listening to her brand new music for the first time might make you think it’s a gospel track but on closer scrutiny, you begin to realize it’s actually something entirely different. The story line contained in the music is that of a lady who finds out that her man is cheating on her behind her back. Ms. Nyangweso’s stage name is ThatchickLynda.

ThatchickLynda plays the role of the lady being cheated on where she appears fed up with her man’s unfaithful behavior. She decides to call it quits on the relationship but not before having the last word directed at her estranged lover, “You need Jesus!”

ThatchickLynda kicks him out and strews his belongings all over the courtyard from the balcony of her house. One only hopes that the new track does not elicit any religious backlash seeing as its chorus invokes the name of Christ but does not do so in a religious context.

On the flip side, you could also look at it as a call to those who are fond of fornicating to find the only lasting solution to their errant behavior in Jesus Christ. The song has nonetheless hit the top ten list on Nairobi’s Fresh 30 and according to the producers, good times still lie ahead.

“The song competes on the national stage with various songs from Africa and other western countries. With the song moving a notch up to no. 6 last week, thatchicLynda is definitely eying to knock off whoever is at no. 1,” said a statement from Zenith Productions.

The execution of the song is in vogue and different. There’s an urgency about the music which grabs attention and carries its captives away with it. It is fast paced and consoles the heart with a hidden assurance that it is not a siren song. Bottom line is, do not tolerate cheats!
